Hamptons International Welcomes Government Regulation for Estate Agents

Following the announcement by Trade Minister Ian McCartney that all 12,000 UK Estate Agents will be forced to join an Ombudsman scheme, Hamptons International applauded the initiative to regulate agents and protect the consumer.

Hamptons International is regulated by the Ombudsman for Estate Agents (OEA), OFT, RICS, ARLA and the FSA in relation to various aspects of their business and adheres to a strict code of conduct.

Mark Anderson, CEO Hamptons International Residential Agency, said:

“We are committed to best practice and high standards of compliance, and have always safeguarded our customers’ interests through sound professional advice and stringent regulation. This new enforcement will bring greater consumer confidence to our industry and outlaw rogue agents.”

Emma Davies, Operations Director, said:

“We regularly contact our governing bodies to ensure we are operating in accordance with best practice. We are proud of the fact that all of our staff receives rigorous training which is followed up by an ongoing internal audit programme throughout the branch network. All staff are fully conversant with their legal responsibilities and duties of care and to complement this we make sure that they are remunerated in a way which rewards good performance but does not compromise integrity.”

Hamptons International has been established for 137 years building an excellent reputation for offering a consistent, reliable and professional service.
