Hamptons International Supports Postponement of Home Information Packs

Hamptons International, one of the UK’s premier international residential agents, and a subsidiary of Emaar properties has announced its support for the Government decision to postpone the introduction of Home Information Packs (HIPs) until 1st August 2007.

With less than two weeks to go before the implementation of HIPs, Hamptons International acknowledges the postponement is a sensible and much-needed development in helping to ensure the introduction of the packs is as successful as possible.

“There has been a great deal of controversy over the introduction of HIPs to date and many are still uncertain about what is involved and how the scheme is to be introduced. The postponement will help ensure all agents and consumers have a better understanding about exactly what is required”, comments Ian Westerling, Regional Director – Thames and Chilterns, Hamptons International.

Westerling continues, "However, the decision to stagger the introduction by the size of property may only add confusion to the market place. What is absolutely vital now is that the Government and all parties involved work together to ensure that the market is ready for the introduction of HIPs in August.”
