Website registration

You are not required to provide us with your personal information in order to use our website. However if you do choose to register then we will be able to provide you with an enhanced service based on the preferences that you select.

How we ensure your privacy if you register

Hamptons International complies with and is registered under the Data Protection Act 1998 (for the purposes of the Data Protection Act 1998 the data controller is Hamptons Estates Limited). We are committed to your privacy and take all reasonable care to prevent unauthorized access to and use of your personal data.

We will never sell or share your information with third parties for marketing purposes. We may however share or transfer your personal data with/to other companies within the Hamptons Group, any entity that acquires all or substantially all of the business and assets of any member of our group, and to any person in order to comply with a legal obligation.

We may sometimes use agents, contractors and partners to perform work on our behalf who may make use of your personal data, but you will only ever receive information from Hamptons as a result of supplying us with your details. All data provided to us is treated in the strictest of confidence by our employees and sub contractors.

Modern information technology is global in nature and we may use partners who are not based in the same country as you or us, and these may not have similar data protection legislation as set out in this policy. However, we only work with partners who commit to providing the same levels of data protection as we ourselves do and again commit that you will never receive marketing from companies other than Hamptons International.

As a specific note, if you reside in a country that is part of the European Economic Area then you should be aware that the information you provide may be transferred to countries outside the European Economic Area for processing. This information will be used by group companies and partners within such countries for the purposes set out below. We will take all steps reasonably necessary to ensure that your data is treated securely within such countries.

What we do with the data you provide

By providing your details you are giving permission for us, our group companies and our agents, contractors and partners to process, transfer and store your data to promote the products and services offered by our group of companies to you and you are agreeing to this privacy policy. The wide range of services and products offered by our group companies may mean that you sometimes receive information that is not of direct interest to you. If this is the case and you wish your details to be removed then please email [to be confirmed].

How we keep your personal information secure

When you register your details they are held on a secure server and are encrypted using “Secure Sockets Layers” (SSL – which is the HTTPS security used by banking sites). You will require a reasonably up to date browser in order to make use of SSL. Access to the servers on which your details are stored is controlled and restricted to essential employees only. We will take all reasonable steps to ensure that your personal data is accurate and up to date and will retain your records in accordance with our document retention policy that provides for retention of such records for no more than seven years.

Cookies

Regardless of whether or not you register, Hamptons International will automatically create a “cookie” when you visit our site. This is a standard way of recognizing someone who revisits a website, therefore allowing us to tailor your visit. The cookie we create does not include the collection of any personal information regarding you or your use of our website, or any other website and is limited to the machine on which you accessed the site.
